My Jackery Explorer 240 – Power Station ( https://amzn.to/3DVeKHW ) is light and compact to bring with you during camping or off the grid. Its convenient and has AC outlet, USB ports for fast charging, and a 12 volt socket . Charging takes about 5-7hours depending of method. With the included AC or 12 volt car charger it charges at 62 Watts and is fully charged in about 5 hours. I wanted to charge it while camping using solar so i bought a ALLPOWERS 60 Watt Folding Solar Panel ( https://amzn.to/3COOcqN ) .

According to Jackery’s manual it can only charge at about 60 Watts max, so buying a 60 Watt portable solar panel seemed like a great idea. Generally the more solar panel wattage the larger your panels will be depending on how its packaged. I wanted something light and compact and had a max charge of 60 watts so i dont damage my Jackery Explorer 240.

The ALLPOWERS 60 Watt Folding Solar Panel ( https://amzn.to/3COOcqN ) works fine on the Jackery 240. I got about 30-40 watts in full sun which was expected as the the manual says it would take about 7 hours to charge using a 60W solar panel.

I generally follow the sun during camping. Moving the panel from my car’s windshield, to the car roof, then to the rear window and trunk, while camping and get a good 4-5 hours of charging in. There are eye holes to hang or tie down the panel as well. I have the Jackery Power station ( https://amzn.to/3DVeKHW ) in my car when charging and just have the wire go into my door weather strip.

Pros:

  • Compatible with other power stations.
  • Compact simple single fold.
  • Good / expected charging speed for solar.
  • Light weight.
  • Two USB charging ports .
  • Can add additional solar panels.

    Cons:
  • Solar Controller USB ports stick out side of the bag zipper.
  • May need a chair or car to act as a stand to follow the sun.

Overall ALLPOWERS 60 Watt Folding Solar Panel ( https://amzn.to/3COOcqN ) a good performer and gets the job done. I would have wanted a solar panel kit that produces closer to the 60W output, however that would mean getting a larger 100 W solar panel for the future.
