Chevy Volt Vlog #62: 40,000+ miles – MidLife Crisis…

Both my 2017 Chevy and i bought turned 40!  My Chevy is now over 40,000 miles at about 18 or so months (or 19  months I forget).  And myself i have been traveling more, can not afford a house in California, no kids,  just my Chevy Volt + School  + Work …

The funny story here revolves around me and the reason why i bought the Chevy Volt, it was fast enough to be my mid life crisis sports fast accelerating sports car and yet have the utility to be my daily and long distance touring vehicle!  And i love it.  So remember my first video of whether i was going to get a Porsche, well when i drove back from San Jose, CA to Los Angeles, CA.

I was driving along side a Porsche Macan.  I passed him a few times and it was fun and youthful. So fun that i forgot how fast my GAS range was dropping from the estimated GUESS-o-METER 260 miles of range to about 20 miles – LOW.  My fuel point was 180 miles in so i figured it was not a problem. after about 3 hours of fun legal hop- scotch driving with the Porsche,  dash warning chime lit up with LOW for the remaining miles!  Sure i still have 0.5 to 1 gallon left int the tank, but if freaked me out!

I refueled and had a brief chat with the other driver as he refueled too.  He had no idea my Chevy Volt was a hybrid or an Electric Vehicle. I was getting about 31 MPG while he was getting about 20+ MPG or so. it was fun and i dont think i would do it again without more pit stops.  Driving sportingly guzzles fuel much faster than the Chevy Volt’s Guess-o-Meter can determine…

DIY: How to Replace battery on a Chevy GM Car Remote

My Chevy Proximity car remote lasted about 20 months before running low on power and the proximity sensor did not open the doors immediately nor did it sense it after entering the car. You need to put the remote on the center storage bin at the designated spot  in order to power on the car and drive it. I drove it to Ikea and got new CR2032 batteries and switched it on the spot.  I will keep a spare in my car incase it runs out of energy but may buy a Maxell or Energizer cells http://amzn.to/2HnnKca .

Chevy Volt Vlog: Remote Not Detected – 38k miles 20 Months

Wow its been a total of 20 months and 38k miles of ownership!  My car remote FOB was running low on power and the proximity sensor did not open the doors immediately nor did it sense it after entering the car. I will post a how to video later on the Chevy Volt Vlog playlist.  Overall the car is good, I am looking at a Honda Clarity Plugin or Kia Niro Plugin as my next car so it should be fun test driving those cars.
