We owned our Craftsman 2 Gallon 1.5 HP Wet Dry Vac ( https://amzn.to/3g2Ur1A ) for over 20 years, bought new in 2000. My Dad used if for all the home improvement, home repair, and maintenance projects around the house. It is still the shop vac work horse for all our projects and repair.

Craftsman Wet Dry Vac Filter Bags (2 – 2.5 GAL) https://amzn.to/3k2eNJM

The Craftsman Clean and Carry 2 Gallon is the perfect portable size for small and large clean up projects. We typically use to to vacuum wet carpet and shop clean up we for clean up of drywall and other building materials that would typically damage household vacuum cleaners.

We have bought additional accessories kit ( https://amzn.to/37Hak9B ) for this vacuum as we lose or misplace the crevice tool or brush accessory. The original flex tube is very ridged and isnt flexiable, however it has proved to be useful ridge to use as a reaching too.
Over the years we also bought replacement wet / dry filter bags ( https://amzn.to/3k2eNJM ) which was useful if the main filter was being washed.

Overall, this is a great wet dry shop vac that has been extremely reliable heavy duty and useful.

REVIEW: DYSON DC07 Upright Vacuum – 18 Years Later…

We owned our Dyson DC07 ( https://amzn.to/3sAQ7vo ) for over 18 years, bought new at $399 dollars in 2003. We use it to vacuum about 1300 square feet of carpet every weekend. It still sucks up half of the bagless HEPA filter container every weekend.

The Dyson DC07 has aged very well over the past 18 years with its industrial yellow and extremely durable motors, belts, and brushes. The engineering and design are great and itemless and extremely durable.

We normally do maintenance every year, however this year we noticed the rollers were full of hair and the pickup and waste volume was low. How to Clean: Vacuum Brush Roller for Dyson DC07 ( https://amzn.to/3sAQ7vo ) and other floor vacuums. If the vacuum brush roller does not pickup any surface debris such as hair, it must be maintained.

To fix this, you have to take off the lower cover of the floor roller and cut out all the hair tangled in the brushes. We used a utility knife to carefully cut the hair off the roller. You also need to dismantle the roller to get to the hair caught under the drive belt. It may take about 10-15 minutes but the difference is night and day. The with the vacuum brushes cleared it exposed the 1 centimeter of brush.

You want to get air conditioner and you either rent or have a small room to cool down. You cant decide between either getting a portable or a window based air conditioner. I recently got a portable air conditioner and a window air conditioner and they are both great options if you don’t want install something permanently.

Portable Air Conditioner:
Floor unit with wheels and about 12,000 BTU. Easy to install.
PROS:
– its very simple and easy to setup took me about 15 minutes to setup
– Its on wheels so you can have it in other room or for storage.
– They are relatively quiet and refined.
– Can work on vertical or horizontal windows.
– May have heating and dehumidfying abilities for year round use.

CONS:
– You need an window to exhaust out the hot air
– You need an power outlet close to the window
– It takes up floor space
– Pricier than window units

Window Air Conditioners:
The window air conditioner took about 30 min to hour to place on the window and mount the hanging screw and side panels. The hard part is prepping and cleaning the window prior to mounting it.
PROS:
– Pretty simple to setup – secures to the window.
– Saves floor space. Some people install them onto the wall to save even more space
– Lower cost than a portable or a larger home install.
– Lasts for years… my last window a/c unit lasted 8-10 years before the fan went out.

CONS:
– Need to have a vertical opening window
– Sticks out the window
– For off season, may need to remove and store.
