RoadTripping with Claire #04: How to replace Honda Clarity Engine Air Filter

I put about 8,000 miles in the past four months. The Honda service reminder finally told me it was past due by one day to bring Claire in for a A01 (oil and filter change and tire rotation). After having it serviced, my Honda dealer told me my air filters needed replacing as they were dirty. Ok… I held off and decided to see for myself at home. So i can make a DIY video on how to open and check the air box filter of the 2018 Honda Clarity. 🙂 My Youtube vlogs may have associated affiliate links to products that I may earn from qualifying purchases.

The air box is on the driver side and is held by two metal clips and two slide in plastic tabs. With the car off, open the hood , unlock the two metal clips, and wiggle and slide the top cover of the air box towards the engine to unhook the two plastic tabs. The Honda Clarity engine air filter part is Part # 17220-5WJ-A01 ( Amazon: https://amzn.to/2D2rOy9 ).

Seeing that my air filter is barely used due to the electric drive, I will change mine out in another 8k to 10 k miles, as hybrid engine is only used 30% of the miles I drive. I cleaned up the air box and picked off some leaves and bugs and replaced the filter back into the box and reversed the process to close up air box.

Overall Claire drives well and is very comfortable for road trips with more than two people. The only disadvantage is the small 7 gallon gas tank. I have to refuel 5 gallons when it hits quarter tanks or about every 170 miles.

Air Fryer Fun+Tasty #12: Crunchy Perfect Seasoned Fries in 10 mins!!!

You will need the following along with your 6 Qt Air Fryer:

Quick Instructions:

Crunchy Perfect Seasoned Fries in 10 mins !

Empty half the bag or 1 pound of  frozen Seasoned Fries in to the try. 
Pre heat air fryer for 400 degrees.
Place 1 layer of Seasoned Fries andcook for 5 minutes at 400 degrees
-After 5 minutes remove try and shake.
Plate and serve with other vegetables and food.

  • Clean air fryer with dish soap and sponge. Rinse and dry.

Trying out 3 Steering Wheel Covers on my Honda! Review ($15-$20)

Steering Wheel Cover Review ($15-$20) – I bought 3 steering wheel covers for my 2018 Honda Clarity and Accord in different styles ( https://amzn.to/2EyDJ7Q ) to try out. Of all my Honda’s I found that the Clarity’s steering wheel was harder and colder during my morning drives. I tried SEG Direct microfiber leather steering wheel cover , SHIAWASENA Steering wheel cover $16 https://amzn.to/2EyDJ7Q , and a off the shelf Walmart steering wheel cover.

I was wearing gloves to void touching the cold steering wheel. So I decided to go shopping for a good steering wheel cover that was soft and insulated me from the cold. My Youtube vlogs may also have associated affiliate links to products that may earn from qualifying purchases.

I first bought a $12 Walmart Auto Drive Steering wheel cover for 14-15 inch steering, however while it looked good, it was too big for my Honda steering wheel. It had extras space on the sides of the wheel and was not snug.

The SEG Direct microfiber leather steering wheel cover which was very popular $16 with a lot of reviews and a textured surface. SHIAWASENA Steering wheel cover $16 https://amzn.to/2EyDJ7Q which had a smooth surface and patterned with red stitching.

Both of these steering wheel covers did not feel like real leather, even though the description said “genuine leather” . Both installation of these covers were a little more difficult than the one purchased at Walmart. Tight fitting and no slip, they did not have any gap after the install. The only gripe is the packaging crease on the covers. With the bend shipping, the creases showed on the material. More so on the SEG Direct Steering wheel cover with multiple bends in packaging. It needed a few hours for the bends to disappear. I installed this on to my Honda Accord.

For my 2018 Honda Clarity, both 15 inch covers fit perfectly. Only time will tell whether the material will be durable in the sun and car heat. I kept both the the SHIAWASENA one and SEG cover as both worked very well. I used one on my Accord and the other on my Clarity.
