GUIDE: 4 Essential Home Vacuums – We used for YEARS!

If you were to get a vacuum for your home, then there are four essential vacuums for the life of home ownership. You basically need a floor vacuum, a carpet stain cleaner, wet / dry work shop vac, and a small detail vacuum for delicate portable work.

Indoor Floor Vacuum:
We owned our Dyson DC07 ( https://amzn.to/3sAQ7vo ) floor vacuum for over 18 years, bought new at $399 dollars in 2003. We use it to vacuum about 1300 square feet of carpet every weekend. It still sucks up half of the bagless HEPA filter container every weekend.

Carpet Spot Cleaner Vacuum:
We owned a Bissell Spot Clean Professional ( https://amzn.to/2RGxeJN ). This highly portable plugin carpet cleaner gives great results with its cleaning solution and by using Resolve Pet Expert ( https://amzn.to/2TkryFS ) and a kitchen scrub brush ( https://amzn.to/2TWNeYQ ) .

After using this Bissell Spot Clean Professional ( https://amzn.to/2RGxeJN ) for six years it has never let us down to quickly clean pet stains, food stains, and other stains off our white carpets and upholstery. The hose is still intact and the motors are fine. We clean the entire system after every use. Due to the compact size we bring it to detail our cars, but mostly to spot clean carpets after a party.

WET / DRY Vacuum:
We owned our Craftsman 2+ Gallon 1.5 HP Wet Dry Vac ( https://amzn.to/3g2Ur1A ) for over 20 years, bought new in 2000. My Dad used if for all the home improvement, home repair, and maintenance projects around the house. It is still the shop vac work horse for all our projects and repair.

Compact / Car Vacuum:
I needed a compact lightweight car vacuum to quickly clean my car on the weekend or for camping. I got a ThisWorx Car Vacuum ( https://amzn.to/3m7m6lZ ) to clean up sand, food, and dirt from the car. Its super convenient and comes with a HEPA filter. The lower power allows for delicate vacuuming.

When deep cleaning many cars or REALLY dirty mud and dirt, I prefer using my Craftsman 2+ Gallon 1.5 HP Wet Dry Shop Vac ( https://amzn.to/3g2Ur1A ). As it can vacuum heavy water and dirt much more effectively.

The 3D MAXpider Custom All Weather Floor Mats ( https://amzn.to/3804iRw ) are custom fit for each of the cars and has benefits of covering the entire foot well of the driver, passenger, and rear seats of the cars. The lip of these floor mats are high which make them good to project your car carpet floors from mud, snow, and liquid spills.

They are also ridged and have a rubberized top and a high friction bottom that resembles fake grass on the bottom of the floor mates. They also use the OEM floor mat lockdowns so they are very secure. The thick multilayer design also helps sound deadens the floor of the car.

The negative aspects of these mats are the rubberized top that attracts fine dust. It is easily washed off with soap and water and a garden hose. if you want it to look clean. The fit has been great for all 3 model of cars I equipped them in, however the 2018 Tesla Model 3 version has a slight pucker on the rear center passenger mat.

Overall i am very satisfied with the custom floor mats as it has saved me hours of time in cleaning and vacuuming.

REVIEW: DYSON DC07 Upright Vacuum – 18 Years Later…

We owned our Dyson DC07 ( https://amzn.to/3sAQ7vo ) for over 18 years, bought new at $399 dollars in 2003. We use it to vacuum about 1300 square feet of carpet every weekend. It still sucks up half of the bagless HEPA filter container every weekend.

The Dyson DC07 has aged very well over the past 18 years with its industrial yellow and extremely durable motors, belts, and brushes. The engineering and design are great and itemless and extremely durable.

We normally do maintenance every year, however this year we noticed the rollers were full of hair and the pickup and waste volume was low. How to Clean: Vacuum Brush Roller for Dyson DC07 ( https://amzn.to/3sAQ7vo ) and other floor vacuums. If the vacuum brush roller does not pickup any surface debris such as hair, it must be maintained.

To fix this, you have to take off the lower cover of the floor roller and cut out all the hair tangled in the brushes. We used a utility knife to carefully cut the hair off the roller. You also need to dismantle the roller to get to the hair caught under the drive belt. It may take about 10-15 minutes but the difference is night and day. The with the vacuum brushes cleared it exposed the 1 centimeter of brush.
