Why my Honda Tire Compressor Kinda Sucks … my work around.

I really dislike my 2018 Honda Clarity included emergency tire infiltrator. I tried used it for the first time last week to inflate my tires to back to 36 PSI, but it loses about 5 PSI or more when unscrewing the adapter. There are other 12 volt compact car air compressors online ( https://amzn.to/2URtUZY ) that do not have the long screw on adapter. Btw, my Youtube vlogs and reviews may also have associated affiliate links to products that may earn from qualifying purchases.

Most of the time, I use a  battery operated combination car jumper air compressor ( https://amzn.to/2JqPqz8 ) that keep charged in and use in the garage and have in my trunk during biking trips. I also use it for a 12 volt power supply.

The problem with the Honda emergency tire repair sealant and air compressor is the long tire adapter. The length and time to unscrew the adapter lose about 5 PSI or more. That means i need to inflate my tires to about 41 or 42 PSI to have enough for the recommended 36 PSI. I do like the lighted gauge and that its accurate when checked with my digital air pressure gauge ( https://amzn.to/2UprO4e ).

Sure its meant for emergencies, but i use my 2017 Chevy Volt tire air compressor with tire sealant all the time during my road trips. It doesn’t have this issue. I am not going to modify the air compressor but I will note that I need to inflate the tires to 42 PSI to end up with 36 PSI. I hope this helps other Honda owners with the emergency air compressor kit.

2010 Windshield Cleaner Concentrate – Review

I have been using more windshield wiper fluid as spring showers hit California. I went to buy more pre-mixed windshield wiper fluid ( https://amzn.to/3dffJWS ) and saw green bottle of 2010 Windshield Cleaner Concentrate and i was curious if it would save me money just buying concentrate. Btw, my Youtube vlogs and reviews may also have associated affiliate links to products that may earn from qualifying purchases.

Online there where many brands of windshield cleaner concentrate ( https://amzn.to/2UoOMr0 ) however they only sold the professional version of the PRO-FORMULA 2010 Windshield Cleaner Concentrate (https://amzn.to/2vBdTyB ) that makes 55 GALLONS per bottle. So i decided to try out the consumer version first.

I recently changed out my driver side windshield wiper as the original Honda wiper blade was smearing. I got the Michelin Guardian Premium All-Season Hybrid Wiper Blade: https://amzn.to/3bftDqf from Costco on sale.

Applying the concentrate when i was parked, the instructions said to add 8 oz to the reservoir. Seeing that my 2018 Honda Clarity windshield reservoir held a little over a quart, i only added about 3 ounces, then mixed in another 20oz of distill water i keep in a bottle.

Overall the concentration had good cleaning power. I am guessing that 4 oz concentrate can make 1 gallon of windshield fluid, If thats so the $4 bottle filled with 32 oz of concentrate will make about 8 gallons of fluid. I plan to just keep a gallon bottle or two to pre-mix with distilled water.

[HCV 20] 2018 Honda Clarity – Heater KILLS EV Range ( Quick test – How Much & How Fast?)

Driving the Honda Clarity during the cold Winter season, my EV range drops to about 43 miles of range on a full charge. Normally it about 48 to 50 miles. But how much does the heater burn in terms of EV range per minute. I made a video to find out. Btw, my Youtube vlogs and reviews may also have associated affiliate links to products that may earn from qualifying purchases.

Heater KILLS EV Range – I Experiment on how much how fast?
When owning a 2017 Chevy Volt, I noticed the heater ate 4-5 kwh of energy which running the heater on the traction battery. It didnt take long for the see the range drop. I eventually bought 12 volt heated blanket ( https://amzn.to/377I0KE ) to keep me warm rather than use the HVAC heater core. I bought one for my Chevy Volt along with a heated seat cover ( https://amzn.to/2Sx9sMI ) , as my Chevy did not come with heated seats with I bought it. Both items used less heat than the HVAC heater core.

Unfortunately the 2018 Honda Clarity does not have a EV power use meter for the car. It just have an EV range. So i started testing it based on time and ev range drop.

RESULTS:
Air Conditioning – COLD – Set to coldest level LOW and Max Fan Speed.
With a full charge and A/C on it coldest, the impact to EV range doesnt drop in over a minute.

Air Conditioning – HOT – Set to HIGHEST temperature level and Max Fan Speed.
With the Heater on HI temp max fan speed, my EV range for my Honda Clarity drop 0.3 to 0.4 miles a minute!

With the Heated seats ON and Air Conditioning – HOT – Set to HIGHEST temperature level and Max Fan Speed. My EV range for my Honda Clarity drop 0.4 to 0.5 miles a minute! That means it heated seats only uses about .05 – .1 ev miles a minute.

Perhaps I need a 12 volt heated blanket ( https://amzn.to/377I0KE ) to keep me warm rather than use the HVAC heater core. I bought one for my Chevy Volt along with a heated seat cover ( https://amzn.to/2Sx9sMI ) , as my Chevy did not come with heated seats with I bought it.

I hope you found this experiment video useful. Stay tuned for a future update!
