I just got a 2 jug box of COSTCO! Kirkland Full Synthetic 0w20 Oil! 5 Quart Jug 2 PACK for $24! Wow its $2.50 a quart for full synthetic oil! I bought a box of the 0w20. I also got this sweet deal from Pennzoil ( 22 DAYS TO THE PENNZOIL 400 PROMOTION ) for a $22 gift card to Shell gasoline with the purchase of 5 qts of Pennzoil full synthetic I bought 5 qts from Amazon ( https://amzn.to/31CajzO ) for about $23 and applied for the online rebate. There are so many new full synthetic motor oils on the market with smaller hybrid and turbo engines. I like that there are more competition from different brands. For me I am not brand specific. I remember paying $30- $35 for 5 quarts. 10 years later, Pennzoil, Valvoline, Castrol, Walmart SuperTech and now Costco Kirkland Signature has a Full synthetic 5w-30 motor oil selling for about $12 – $38 dollars! [HCV 19] Honda Clarity: Windshield Wiper Blade Performance FIX: Replacing VS Cleaning.

So many Honda Clarity owners has complained about bad windshield wiper performance. Its either bad wiper blades or it needs cleaning. I have been using Rain X (https://amzn.to/2vKe9Lv )since I bought my 2018 Honda Clarity and never noticed it until my last week when it rained. And the Rain X, wore off. Rather than applying another coat for the season, i wanted to fix the wiper performance issue. Of my 3 Hondas and Chevy Volt, the Honda Clarity was the only one with this issue.

To find out if its the wiper blade or the design. I cleaned both wipers with rubbing alcohol and rinsed them off. For control, I left the original passenger side Honda wipers on. I replaced my driver side wiper blade with a new Michelin Guardian wiper blade 26 inch ( https://amzn.to/2UjgaIy ) i got from Costco during a sale a few months ago.

I cleaned the exterior of the windshield with rubbing alcohol 50% (https://amzn.to/2GMBQoq ) on a microfiber cloth ( https://amzn.to/3b6Qp4q ) to remove any grease or residue. I could have just applied more Rain X but that would not have solved the problem any more.

Results:
After driving through wet fog and using the windshield wipers the driver side was clearer with out marring. We will need to see how long the blades last. It seems like the Honda wiper arms are applying enough pressure but the rubber may be leaving a residue. So the cleaning with rubbing Alcohol may just fix this, but having a pair of replacement wipers help.

My 2017 Chevy Volt uses the same wiper blades for over 3 years now and its been great. Even with the pressure against the window. So perhaps the Honda Clarity got some bad rubber. I dont know.

For the windshield fluid reservoir, its small so i carry a bottle of distilled water with me in case i run out of wiper fluid.

[HCV15] Honda Clarity DIY – In-Cabin Air Filter Change – Service A012 (Part 2)

Honda Clarity Vlog 15 – A quick video on how to change in-cabin air filter or HVAC filter my 2018 Honda Clarity. This is part 2 of the Service A012 videos I made for my Road Tripping with Clare. It takes about 3 minutes to do this procedure with tools. I change my Honda Clarity when the Maintenance Minder notifies me or about every 7,000 miles on average. My first two A012 services were done at the dealership. I saved me time and money (about $100+ ) from going to a dealership to do the A012 service.

Tools and materials changing out the in cabin air filter in the glove compartment:

  3. Change the Honda Clarity In cabin Air filter: ( https://amzn.to/37V9cgl )

How to change out the in-cabin filter:

  1. Open glove box and empty out contents
  2. Push the two sides of the glove box towards the center to release side glove box door.
  3. Push the side plastic hook toward the front of the car to release the hook.
  4. With the glove box draw down, release the air filter box door by unlocking the two side clips.
  5. slide the old in cabin air filter out,
  6. Replace with new air filter.
  7. Replace air filter door to air box.
  8. Replace glove box door and replace the hook on the side.
  9. Replace contents.

For the entire A012 Service i needed to service or replace the following:

  1. Rotate Tires
  2. Check the fluid levels and check the chassis for any issues

3. Change the Oil and Oil Filter:
