DIY: Installing Deer Warning Whistles! – Why you should use screws instead of mounting tape.

So there’s been more deer around and I figured I get a some deer warning whistles and put them on my Honda Clarity . They sell similar ones online: https://amzn.to/2RfUax1 . I used screws to mount to the front of my car.

The two deer warning whistle attached on to the bumper with foam adhesive tape. There are screw holes on the mounts, however the foam tape holds it fine for about 2 years.

It finally tore the foam and the other one ripped off due to wind speed. This time around i drilled two pilot holes and added two flat head screws. I used a 1/16 drill bit ( https://amzn.to/3hc9Ziz ) on my Ryobi power drill (https://amzn.to/30quh1O ). I had to use aluminum tape (https://amzn.to/2Yl5Xvv) to make the small drill bit see my video of how i did it.

So my there are two types of whistles included in the package, one with closed back end and one with a open back end. The closed one is louder is placed on the passenger side. The open one is quieter and is placed on the driver side. When driving at highway speeds I can hear the passenger side with the passenger window down.

Enjoy and hope this helps!

How to use SMALL DRILL BITS on a DRILL Chucks

If you need to use a small drill bit on a regular drill chuck to drill pilot holes, you will notice the new chucks have gaps. I love my Ryobi 18v power drill which i bought from a kit (https://amzn.to/30quh1O ) it has a newer chuck that has teeth to hold round drill bits better, however the gap too big for small drill bits such as 1/16 and 3/64 bits from my bit set ( https://amzn.to/3hc9Ziz ). I like staying on one platform of tools to share the family of Ryobi 18v battery ( https://amzn.to/3cPX0zM ). For years I have used Aluminum Tape ( https://amzn.to/2Yl5Xvv ) to use smaller bits. I basically cut a 1.5 centimetre 4 inch strip. I wrap the tape around the bit. I then use the drill chuck to compress the aluminum tape for a strong grip. After adding the tape, it will stay on the drill bit for the life of the bit. Usually they kits come with multiple small bits as they are meant for pilot holes and drilling delicate materials.

They do sell Small Drill Bit Chuck adapters ( https://amzn.to/30o0DdH ) that work if you plan to keep your drill bits original. They are delicate and solves this problem as normal small drill bits are not meant to be drilled with a lot of pressure or force.

Costco! 5 Gallon Gas Cans $15, EZ Pour Spoutfor my older gas cans and spouts.

Costco has a New 5 Gallon Gas Can with Smart Control spout for $15!!! The new spout is a little easier than the strange yellow straight spout from the past. There are other 5 gallon gas tanks online: https://amzn.to/2O4FnkY . I have older gas cans with vents and pull out spouts. I bought a EZ Pour (https://amzn.to/3f5wjbR ) gas spout kit for my older gas cans. I use the simple spout on my old gas cans. The EZ Pour also fits the newer gas cans, so i can use it like a funnel.

Overall the new gas nozzle is simpler and easier to use the prior straight spout 5 gallon gas cans. You will you use your palm of your hand to push and release the valve of the spout. I have several 5 gallon gas cans from Costco. I normally just use them to transport gas from the gas station to for my law mower or for emergency gas. I older gas cans with vents and pull out spouts. I bought a EZ Pour (https://amzn.to/3f5wjbR ) gas spout kit for my older gas cans. I use the simple spout on my old gas cans.

Costco has Scepter 5.3 gallon gas can that normally sells for $12, on clearance for  $9.  There are other 5 gallon gas can on sale online: ( https://amzn.to/2OUijVU ).   I needed a new gas tank as my other 5 gallon gas can started to leak after the cap gasket tore.  I owned my other 5 gallon gas cans for about 5 years.
