2017 Chevy Volt SHIFT to Park (P) Issue!!!!?

My 2017 Chevy Volt is experiencing a weird glitch were it doesnt see the Parking (P) Mode on my gear shift.  It could be the shifter solenoid that may have an issue. I dunno. Of course the dumb part of this story is that my car is not over the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. ARGH!!!!!

Not sure if this is a safety issue or not. Not sure if its part of the Power Train Warranty?  If you have the same issue let me know on the comments below!

The current work around is to hold the gear shift and push it to park again so it will trigger the park gear.  If you experience this you may want to bring it to the dealer to check out if this was an issue.

DIY: 2016-2018 Chevy Volt Oil Change: DIY – oil, filters, gaskets, tools!

DIY Video to how to change the oil on the 2016- 2018 Chevy Volt

This will be my 3rd oil change for my Volt.   I had the Chevy Dealership change my oil at 10,000 miles with 50% oil life, 20,000 miles at 50% oil life. This time its now 41,500 miles at 0% oil life, and its time to do it DIY to save $30-50 dollars!.   Btw, my Youtube vlogs and reviews may also have associated affiliate links to products that may earn from qualifying purchases.

Which means the change interval for the 2017 Chevy Volt is about 20,000 miles!!! After changing it i will now change it when it reaches 5-10% oil life as the oil looks thicker than normal by 0%.

I needed to add drain and fill about 3.8  quarts of Mobil 1 – 0w-20 (http://amzn.to/2CX5xPl)  instead of the recommended 5w-20 as i prefer lighter weight oil in my cars with needing 5w-20 oil weight motors.  I will also be changing out the oil filter with the Wix XP filter  ( or the  ACDELCO PF64 filter thats about $6.50 at Walmart or Amazon – http://amzn.to/2FPL3uZ –

What Happens IF I Push the POWER Button WHILE DRIVING?

Ever wonder what happens if  the POWER / Start / Stop button gets pushed while driving with these new keyless cars? Well I tried it out on my 2017 Chevy Volt to find out in this video a large private parking lot.   (DISCLAIMER: Please DO NOT do try this at home. I did this for  my own entertainment . )

I wanted to see what happens if i accidentally bump in to the button I want to prepare myself on how to react. Secondly,  I want to know if I start the car again while in motion.  I looked at the Chevy Volt owners manual to reference afterward to check if Neutral can be used to restart the car.

With the 2017 Chevy Volt, pushing the power button while driving will alert the driver to confirm they want to turn off the car, by pushing the button for the second time.    Testing this at a private parking lot,  I tried it at under 5 mph and at 40 mph, you can turn off the car by using the Power button.

According to the Owners Manual, you can turn on the car at the “P” or “N” gear selection.  In P you need to step on the brakes. In N you need to use the Power button twice and not hit the brakes. I feel that the hitting the power button twice is not really user friendly or intuitive unless you read the instructions.
