HOW TO: Replace Shark Robot Vacuum – HEPA Filter and Vacuum Roller

Hey there, fellow home cleaning enthusiasts! Sterling W. here, and today I’m diving into a topic that’s essential for keeping your trusty Shark robot vacuum in top shape: replacing the roller and HEPA filter. I recently learned how to do this on my Shark robot vacuum, and it’s surprisingly easy!

Why This Matters

Let’s face it, our Shark robot vacuum work hard to keep our floors clean, and over time, certain parts wear out. The roller, which helps pick up dirt and debris, can get worn down, especially if you have pets or lots of foot traffic. And the HEPA filter, which traps dust and allergens, can become clogged, even with regular cleaning. Replacing these parts is crucial for maintaining your vacuum’s performance and keeping your home healthy.

How to Replace the Roller

  1. First, locate the door that covers the roller. You’ll find two tabs that release it.
  2. Slide one side of the old roller out. Note that one side is fixed, while the other rotates to align with an opening.
  3. To install the new roller, align the fixed side first.
  4. Then, slide in the rotating side.
  5. Keep in mind that rollers typically need replacing every one to two years.

How to Replace the HEPA Filter

  1. The HEPA filter is located in the back container of your robot vacuum.
  2. Open the container. You might want to dust it out first.
  3. Depending on your Shark model, you may need to replace the entire top part of the container (which includes the filter) or just the filter itself.
  4. If replacing the entire top part, the hinges usually slide off clips.
  5. Remove the old filter/top part and insert the new one.

Easy Peasy!

Replacing these parts is a breeze, and it can significantly improve your Shark robot vacuum‘s performance. The old HEPA filter was really dirty, even with monthly cleaning. So, don’t wait until your vacuum starts struggling—make these replacements a part of your regular maintenance routine!

  1. Open the Battery Compartment: Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the battery door.
  2. Remove the Old Battery: Utilize the pull tabs on the old battery to remove it [00:20].
  3. Disconnect the Battery: Carefully use needle-nose pliers to pinch the unlock tab on the battery connector and gently pull to disconnect it from the main circuit board [00:35].
  4. Connect the New Battery: Align the new battery similarly to the old one and push the connector in until it clicks [01:00].
  5. Secure the Battery: If there’s extra cable, wrap it to the side, ensuring the pull tab remains accessible [01:08].
