Review: Wolfbox G840S Rear Mirror mounted 4k dashcam and backup camera

I got the Wolfbox G840S mirror dash cam and backup camera, and my initial impression is quite positive. It felt really responsive when I was using it, and I appreciated that it came with both a GPS module and a memory card – one less thing to buy separately! The video quality from both the front and back cameras looked sharp in HD, and the night vision seemed pretty good too.

I thought Wolfbox G840S mirror dash cam and backup camera was a nice touch that you could adjust the backup lines to fit your car. Plus, the fact that you can turn the screen off and just use it as a regular mirror is pretty handy – it keeps things looking clean. The video mentioned that wiring it up was fairly straightforward, taking around two hours.

Pros:

  • It’s responsive, the large 12 inch touch screen moves quickly to touch.
  • It’s pretty well-equipped right out of the box with GPS and a memory card.
  • The video recording looks high quality, front and back.
  • The night vision seems effective.
  • Being able to customize the backup lines is a nice feature.
  • The option to use it as a regular mirror is a great way to keep it low-profile.
  • The installation seems relatively easy and took about 2 hours to run wires..
  • Its good value for the money especially if you need better rear vision when parking.
  • Features like 24-hour parking monitoring, but it may drain your car battery
  • The ability to adjust the rear camera angle offers flexibility during setup.

Cons:

  • The interface menu feels a bit cluttered.
  • The mirror angle and the stability of the rear camera with the straps.
  • There was occasional screen flashing, which would be annoying.
  • Reflections on the glass could potentially make the screen hard to see in certain sunlight conditions.
  • While the rear camera is generally good, some feel the resolution isn’t true 4K, possibly being lower or upscaled.
  • The size of the unit might interfere with the sun visors in some cars.

Overall, the Wolfbox G840S looks like a solid option with a lot to offer, but it’s worth keeping some of these potential drawbacks in mind.”

[HVC16] Scratches on my Honda Clarity Touch Screen! Adding a Screen Protector!

I discovered I have scratches on my Honda Clarity Infotainment center touch screen. So I have added a custom cut RUIYA screen protector ( https://amzn.to/3a9y6uE ) which i bought from Amazon for 2 for $9 or so. This is a hard plastic sheet and not tempered glass.

I never had scratches on my touch screens before with my Chevy Volt or any of my other cars, so this was surprising to find scratches. I use a high quality car Costco microfiber cloth ( https://amzn.to/3a8oUXy ) to clean my fingerprints from the screen, however dont think it was the cloth. I normally wipe horizontally. The scratches were vertical and only on spots were my fingers slid to change the audio navigation. I suspect it caused by my finger nails.

The RUIYA screen protector ( https://amzn.to/3a9y6uE ) kit came with 2 screens, two install kits, and a hard plastic card for pushing bubbles. I followed the instructions cleaned with the alcohol wipes, then the mini microfiber, then picked off the any lint or dust with the two anti dust stickers. To apply the screen the instructions on the release tabs are wrong. Start with tab “1” to release the adhesive side. Apply to screen, aligning the screen protector to the top of your center screen. Then slowly place the screen protector on from on corner to the diagonally to the other corner to avoid any bubbles. I had 2 faint bubbles on my screen after applying it. I used the plastic card and my fingers to push it off the edge but it stated. The two faint bubble disappeared after 24 hours or so.

Overall I am satisfied with the screen protector, and i will do a long term review in 6 to 12 months.
