Chevy Volt Vlog #64: 44,000 Miles – 22 Months – Follow up and Spring!

Chevy Volt Vlog #64: 44,000 Miles – 22 Months – Follow up and Spring! So in the last Chevy Volt Vlog #63   “Cant Shift to PARK” i got the Transmission Control Module  fixed for about $400 with a rental.  Chevy / GM took a week or so to look into the issue and concluded that it was not covered under the 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, offered me $100 coupon in for the next time I go in for dealer service.

Hmm… thanks for the offer but, seeing that my oil changes are every 20,000 miles, it may expire before i need to use it.  Unless they are expecting another part to fail on my 2017 Chevy Volt.  I may just use it for an 4 wheel ailment (normally it costs about $80 or so at my tire shop), unless they charge more than $125 i will consider it.   Still this whole issue has had me question such an awesome car to have issues with foundation items makes me worried.

Moving on… Its spring time and i traveled to see the blooming wild flowers of California and the great coast! I love it here in California, however with the high cost of housing and living expenses that the negative side of such a great place to live.  I had some very good roasted strawberry icecream at Salt and Straw (https://saltandstraw.com/)  It was pricey but once every 1-2 months is good for the soul.

Spring cleaning!  Glad i got the large hatch back of the Chevy Volt. I was able to donate 40% most of my clothes i either cant fit in or could benefit others. folding down the seats i got 4 bags of clothes to the donate to charity.  Love my cargo capacity.

Lastly, this month my Glove box pin fell out. I had to take apart the glove box to push the bin back in. Not hard but just another annoy quality or design problem with my 44,000 mile 2017 Chevy Volt.  Oh well. Here is the link to the video Glove box DIY ( https://youtu.be/-cEPjkHVRYM )and the DIY to the air filter charge glove box removal. (https://wp.me/p9dbox-47)

Well that’s it for this month, its almost 2 years of owner ship and i may get new tires for my Volt next month if Costco has a tire deal.  Can’t wait!  See you next time!

Chevy Volt Vlog #63: 40k Miles / 20 Months – Shift to Park Issue FIXED $$$

At 40,000 miles, lets talk about the 2017 Chevy Volt Shifter to Park issue.  I brought it to the dealer and it was out of the 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty so i paid out of pocket to quickly get this resolved. It cost me about $420 dollars  to have the part diagnosed, replaced, and to get a rental car.

The sad part of this story is that i REALLY LOVE MY 2017 CHEVY VOLT!  I want to keep it in the family like all of our cars for over 150,000 to 200,000 miles.  I was planning to buy another Chevy Volt and pass this one to may parents however, not that this happened, it may not happen.   I came from owning Nissan, Toyota, Honda , and GMC  that never had issues for the first 70,000 miles. So seeing that this well designed advanced car and had a issue after 36,000 miles was disappointing.

I will reach out to Chevy to see what they will do in terms of goodwill. Due to the youth of this car and it just passing the Bumper to Bumper warranty.

2017 Chevy Volt SHIFT to Park (P) Issue!!!!?

My 2017 Chevy Volt is experiencing a weird glitch were it doesnt see the Parking (P) Mode on my gear shift.  It could be the shifter solenoid that may have an issue. I dunno. Of course the dumb part of this story is that my car is not over the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. ARGH!!!!!

Not sure if this is a safety issue or not. Not sure if its part of the Power Train Warranty?  If you have the same issue let me know on the comments below!

The current work around is to hold the gear shift and push it to park again so it will trigger the park gear.  If you experience this you may want to bring it to the dealer to check out if this was an issue.

Thanks!  See you next time!
