Costco! High Sierra CRAGIN Hydration Backpack! $29 ($10 OFF – $19) REVIEW!

Costco has the High Sierra CRAGIN Hydration Backpack for $29. I bought it a couple of days ago for $10 off at $19. Similar Hydration packs online sell for about $35-$45: https://amzn.to/2WxAHLS

I wanted new hydration pack that was larger than my bicycling hydration backpack. This is a hydration pack with 2 liter bladder with wide open area for easy cleaning. I found the backpack kind of small for my needs although it was bigger than the hydration pack i was replacing. It was an excellent value for a backpack and hydration bladder for $19!!! Costco! UBIO Smart Car Jump Starter! $69!!!

This UBIO Smart Car Jump Starter has a smart digital display to show battery and charge info. It also offers a feature to trickle charge your very low battery. Overall its 8,000 mah battery is smaller than the other portable car jumpers on the market, however it differentiates it self with the digital display, USB-C charging port, and trickle charge ability. Otherwise, it is similar to other portable chargers with USB fast charging and car jumping abilities. Other chargers have increased their capacity to over 10,000 mah capacity.

Make my Shoes Water Repellent!!! Testing Fabric Protector Spray!

So I love washing my car, going on hikes, and walking in the rain, however my some of my every day shoes are mesh topped.  They soak up water like a sponge.  I wanted to make them water repellent yet highly breathable.  I bought a few cans of water repellent fabric protector to experiment (https://amzn.to/2sHCNHw )!

This is an experiment, not a DIY.  If you plan to use this info, use at your own risk.

I bought a few cans of water repellent fabric protector spray  Scotchgard Water and Sun (https://amzn.to/2sHCNHw ).    There are other types of Scotchgard that may be better (https://amzn.to/2S9eQaq ).   The Water and Sun fabric spray was meant for patio and pool furniture and outdoor fabric.  I figured it was probably ok to test this on a pair of old mesh hiking shoes.

I gave the shoes a quick wash the day before and let them dry.  Then I took them out for spraying.  I read the Scotchgard Water and Sun instructions, shock the can, and gave my shoes a single coat of fabric protector.

The fabric protector did darken my shoes suede leather and mesh fabric.  More over also repelled spilled on water.  However it was not water proof.  It the impact or pressure of the water hit the mesh fabric hard enough, water still soaked into the shoe.

Overall it was a fun and educational experiment. I plan to add a second coat to see if its more effective. However, with one coat it is already quite water repellent and useful!
