My Love Affair with the Humble Box Fan

Sterling W. here, and today I want to sing the praises of a simple, often overlooked hero of home comfort: the box fan. You might think of it as just a basic way to cool down, but trust me, these things are so much more versatile than they seem!

I’ve come to truly appreciate my box fans for a couple of key reasons:

Window Wonders

First off, they are fantastic as window fans. I have a Lasko box fan that fits perfectly in my window, and it’s a game-changer. I can use it to pull in that refreshing cool air on a breezy evening, or I can reverse it to draw out hot, stuffy air when things get a little too warm inside [00:10]. It’s like having a custom-made ventilation system!

Air Filtration Powerhouse

But here’s where things get really interesting: box fans are amazing when paired with furnace filters. I use Merv 13 filters, and I simply place them behind the fan. Suddenly, my box fan isn’t just circulating air; it’s actively filtering it, removing dust, pollen, and other allergens from the air in any room [00:23]. It’s a super cost-effective way to improve your indoor air quality! I even have a setup in my garage/workout room with a larger, 4-inch thick air filter for extra filtration in that space [00:32].

So, there you have it: my ode to the box fan. It’s a simple, affordable, and incredibly versatile tool for both air circulation and filtration. If you’re looking for an easy way to boost your home comfort, I highly recommend giving the humble box fan a try!

REVIEW: X-PROTECTOR – Premium Felt Furniture Pads

I went to my parents house and was planning on getting new flooring and my chairs feet felt pads are worn away. I did not want to scratch our hard surface floors so we bought X-Protector Felt Furniture Pad ( https://amzn.to/3JWaGum ) for my chairs and table. I also use X-Protector Furniture Sliders for Hardwood Floors ( https://amzn.to/3ehUxB8 ) to move furniture.

I bought X-Protector Felt Furniture Pad ( https://amzn.to/3JWaGum ) was simply to protect my floors from scratching, less sound of moving chairs, and easier to slide chairs, tables, around.

For larger tables and heavy furniture. I was not able to move it myself so putting these X-Protector Furniture Sliders for Hardwood Floors ( https://amzn.to/3ehUxB8 )
on each table leg allowed us to move the furniture over the hard surface flooring without scratching the flooring.

The X-Protector Felt Furniture Pad ( https://amzn.to/3JWaGum ) were easy to install. Just clean the surface and peel and stick on the the felt pad on to the feet of the table or chair. For our older furniture, we cleaned the surface of dust and oil by using rubbing alcohol and a towel. We are now able to move the chairs and table without making noise.

In addition, the X-Protector Felt Furniture Pad ( https://amzn.to/3JWaGum ) were easy to install on the drawers and cabinet doors to lower the slamming noise sound from closing drawers. Just add the 1/2 inch felt pads to the contact area of the drawer to cabinet.

The Ruby Sliders ( https://amzn.to/3vYup8m ) had heavy duty felt as a base to slide over the hard wood floor. The top was a stretch silicon non-slip to cover over the furniture legs. Very easy to use and very helpful. We are now able to move the chairs and table without making noise.
