REVIEW: $30 Digital TPMS – 6 Month Review | Energizer CR 1632 batteries

Six months after installing the $30 Digital Tire Pressure Monitoring System ( https://amzn.to/2ncBVf6 ) on my Honda Clarity and Accord, two of the sensors started to have errors. I found out two batteries that came with the set was low so i replaced them with Energizer CR1632 ( https://amzn.to/3gpfo4q ). Hopefully we will find out how long these batteries last on teh TPMS sensors. My new 2018 Honda Clarity and 2007 Honda Accord does not have a TPMS system that tells tire pressure and temperature of the tires. My 2007 Accord simply didnt have TPMS . My 2018 Honda Clarity on checks tire rotation to determine if the diameter is smaller to indicate over or under inflation of the tires. I loved my Chevy Volt which has individual meters for each tire. Individual guage allowed me to monitor status and if I had a air leak. Good for finding a tire leak before a flat tire.

The kit is solar powered with a battery and a USB input for 5 volt power. This makes it convenient to be wire free when i put it on my dash. In order to keep the unit from flying off my dash board, I added Scotch double sided tape ( https://amzn.to/2pCOvFr ) on the bottom of the TPMS unit and added anti-slip shelving mat foam ( https://amzn.to/2nULpfs ) . You could have just used a cell phone anti-slip mat ( https://amzn.to/2n7sZre ) .

I charged the kit in a USB charger for 2 hours before installing kit. The kit was already calibrated for all four tires of the car: Front Right, Front Left, Rear Right, Rear Left. You just need add the locking nut onto the tire nipple, then add the sensor to the corresponding tire location. Use the provided mini spanner / wrench to tighten the nuts against the TPMS sensor. You are able to set the high and low pressure alarm and units settings such as PSI vs BAR or F vs C. In a few minutes the main controller receives tire data from the individual tires.

I tested the tire pressure against my digital tire pressure gauge (https://amzn.to/2naQQGH ) and fount it accurate.

TPMS Errors … My TPMS is acting up. WHY!?

I installed a 3rd party TPMS tire pressure sensor so i can monitor each of my tire pressure during my drive. Honda tire pressure does not show actual tire pressures. I bought one online ( https://amzn.to/2ncBVf6 ) for about $30. I installed it about 6 months ago. See the install review here:

After 6 months, two of the sensors started acting up. One stopped sending signal and another showed very high temperature and low pressure. To trouble shoot i removed the TMPS battery on the to reset it and was on my way. After 1,000 miles, it happened again. I believe the 1632 battery was low powered and either stopped sending signal or send incorrect errors like 172 degree and low tire pressure 24 psi.

I swapped out the battery and it worked again. Lets see how long it lasts. Was it worth it. To me its still worth it. I tested the tire pressure against my digital tire pressure gauge (https://amzn.to/2naQQGH ) and fount it accurate.

DIY: How to RESET TPMS for Honda Accord, Honda Clarity, Honda Civic and 2018+ Honda.

This is how to reset your HONDA tire pressure monitor after rotating, changing out your tires, or fixing a flat on your late model Honda Accord, Honda Clarity, or other late model Honda with interactive control panel. The Honda TPMS system does not detect tire pressure. I recently added another 3rd party TPMS system online ( https://amzn.to/2ncBVf6 ) for about $30 , so i can see the actual tire pressure from each tire. I have the install video here: https://youtu.be/gIT708-QUU8 .

I recently got my tire repaired after getting a flat tire. I had to use my spare tire for my DIY Honda Clarity ( https://youtu.be/incxlPXfiPo ). After the repair, my tire shop showed me how to re calibrate my TPMS system in my 2018 Honda Clarity. It also clears the TMPS light on the dash. Its a simple process so I made this video.

The Honda TPMS system does not detect tire pressure, but monitors tire rotations from the wheel sensors, if its spinning faster than other wheels its considered air leak or flat. Normally it will go away if you add air to the tires, however if you had a flat or tire rotation, you will want to do this re calibration procedure.
