For the Redragon S101 keyboard , daily dusting is my first line of defense. I use a soft brush or a can of compressed air to blast away crumbs, dust, and pet hair that inevitably find their way between the keys. For a deeper clean, which I do every few weeks, I carefully pop off the keycaps (the you will need a keycap puller, which is super handy). Once the caps are off, I use a damp microfiber cloth (lightly moistened with water, perhaps with a tiny drop of mild soap) to wipe down the keyboard deck. The keycaps themselves can be soaked in warm, soapy water for about 15 minutes, then rinsed thoroughly and left to air dry completely before putting them back on. I always make sure the keyboard is unplugged before any wet cleaning!
The Redragon S101 keyboard mouse requires a slightly different approach. I regularly wipe down its surface with a microfiber cloth to remove oils and grime. For the optical sensor on the bottom, I use a dry cotton swab or a puff of compressed air to clear away any dust or lint that might interfere with tracking accuracy. The mouse feet, usually made of Teflon, can also be wiped clean to ensure smooth gliding. If I notice any stickiness, a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab can do the trick, but I use it sparingly.
Beyond cleaning, general care extends the life of these peripherals. I make sure to route the cables properly so they don’t get snagged or bent sharply, preventing internal wire damage. When I’m not using them, especially if I’m transporting them, I use a dust cover or place them in a protective sleeve to prevent scratches and dust accumulation. I also avoid eating or drinking directly over my keyboard to minimize spill risks, though the Redragon S101 keyboard does boast some spill resistance, which is a nice peace of mind.
By dedicating just a few minutes each week to these simple cleaning and maintenance steps, my Redragon S101 keyboard and mouse continue to feel and perform like new. It’s a small investment of time that significantly pays off in terms of longevity and consistent performance, ensuring I always have a reliable and clean setup for gaming, work, or any other task.
