CCV#70 – DIY 2016-2018 Chevy Volt In-cabin Air filter Change in 8 MINUTES!

CCV#70 – DIY 2016-2018 Chevy Volt In-cabin Air filter Change in 8 MINUTES!

Its been over a year and I noticed my in cabin air filter needed to get changed. I got my AC Delco carbon in cabin air filter online: ( https://amzn.to/2XRS3PM ) for about $13. BTW: My Youtube vlogs may also have associated affiliate links to products that may earn from qualifying purchases.

Since this is my 3rd time changing my incabin air filter for my 2017 Chevy Volt, I can now dow it in under 8 minutes. You need the new filter ( https://amzn.to/2XRS3PM ) and 7 MM socket and a REALLY LONG socket screwdriver 7+ inches to make the job easier. The 5 hex bolts are easier to install and remove with the longer stem.

I have given my 2017 Chevy Volt to my retired parents who love it. They drive about 15 miles a day so it’s convenient for them to just charge it every day instead of using gas at $4 a gallon in California. It’s funny how they label and lock everything. See the video its kinda cute.

I will continue to maintain and vlog about the 2017 Chevy Volt in the future and will post it to my two Chevy Volt play lists:

I have bought a 2018 Honda Clarity and will make more videos on the 2018 Honda Clarity and her travels as well:

UNBOXING: AUKEY Dual Dash Front / Rear 1080p Camera & AUKEY Hardwire Motion Detection Sensor!

I have front dash cams on all my cars.  I wanted to try out a front and rear dash cam and bought a AUKEY Dual Dash Cam – 1080P HD Front and Rear Camera! ( https://amzn.to/2THPihQ ) and a AUKEY Hardwire Motion Detection Sensor ( https://amzn.to/2D7zXBI ) which plugs into the OBDii port of the car for power.

This quick video is just an unboxing of the two products and a brief test and initial review.  I will create install video later.   I have already installed this camera and the hardwire on my car. Overall it was a simple install.

The AUKEY hardwire with Motion Detector Sensor powers and sends a signal to dash cams with a Parking Mode to trigger a recording.  The attached box is a motion detection sensor need to be installed  onto the windshield of the car.  I found visibly annoying to take up my windshield real estate.  I later took removed it.

I also did not want to drain my car’s 12 volt battery when I leave my car on business trips.  For a future DIY  I plan to add a battery power bank to enable the parking recording without draining my car battery.

In addition,  it uses the car’s 12 volt battery with the OBD-II DLC port  by the drivers foot well.  This is convenient if you do not want to use a fuse tap ( https://amzn.to/2VSlLDV ) or slice wire for 12 volt power.

If you use your OBD-II port for other devices, don’t like the motion sensor box, or don’t like using your OBD-II port for power, there are other 12 volt hardwire kits that uses fuse taps ( https://amzn.to/2Fxedkz ) for your dash cam or USB powered devices.

Look out for more videos about this Dash cam installation, footage, and other car reviews  in the future.

DIY: Installing Deer Warning Whistles!

So there’s been more deer around and I figured I get a some deer warning whistles and put them on my Chevy Volt.  They sell similar ones online: https://amzn.to/2RfUax1 . Btw, my Youtube vlogs and reviews may also have associated affiliate links to products that may earn from qualifying purchases.

So my there are two types of whistles included in the package, one with closed back end and one with a open back end.  The closed one is louder is placed on the passenger side.  The open one is  quieter and is placed on the driver side.  When driving at highway speeds I can hear the passenger side with the passenger window down.

The two deer warning whistle attached on to the bumper with foam adhesive tape.  There are screw holes on the mounts, however the foam tape holds it fine.   I placed mine on my 2017 Chevy Volt license plate mount. There was enough space to place the whistles on both sides of the hardware.

Enjoy and hope this helps!
