Getting Started: Installing My WOLFBOX G840S Mirror Dash Cam

When I decided to upgrade my car with the WOLFBOX G840S 12″ 4K Mirror Dash Cam Backup Camera, I was a little apprehensive about the installation process. Wiring anything in a car can be intimidating! However, I was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward and manageable the setup proved to be, even for someone like me who isn’t a professional installer. The thoughtful design of the kit made it truly achievable, resulting in a perfectly integrated Smart Rearview Mirror system.

The first step was mounting the main mirror unit. The WOLFBOX G840S comes with robust rubber straps that securely fasten it over my existing rearview mirror. This was incredibly easy – just stretch the straps over the mirror, ensuring a snug fit. This method made it feel very stable and allowed me to quickly position the 12″ screen for optimal viewing without any permanent modifications to my vehicle.

Next came the front camera, which is integrated into the mirror unit. Positioning this was simple; I just needed to adjust the lens to ensure it had a clear view of the road ahead, avoiding any windshield obstructions or wiper blades. The high-quality 4K resolution meant I was confident in its recording capabilities once aligned correctly.

The rear camera installation was the part I anticipated being the trickiest, but WOLFBOX provides a long enough cable that allowed me to route it neatly along the headliner, down the A-pillar, and along the door sills to the back of my car. I took my time tucking the cable under trim pieces for a clean, professional look. Connecting it to the reverse light for Parking Assistance was the only part that required a little electrical know-how, but the manual provided clear diagrams, or a simple online search for my car model provided great guidance.

Finally, powering the unit was easy. I simply plugged it into my car’s 12V power outlet. The Included 32GB Card came pre-installed, so I was ready to record immediately. After a quick initial setup on the touch screen to confirm time, date, and settings, my WOLFBOX G840S was fully operational. The entire process, taking my time to route cables neatly, was completed in a couple of hours, leaving me with a beautifully integrated front and rear dash cam system.
