The Dyson V8+ dustbin is incredibly simple to empty. With a single lever pull, the bottom flap opens, allowing dirt and debris to fall directly into the trash without me having to touch anything. I usually do this after every significant vacuuming session to prevent buildup. For a deeper clean, the dustbin assembly can be fully detached from the main unit and wiped down with a damp cloth, or even rinsed if necessary (just ensure it’s completely dry before reattaching).

Dyson V8+ Filter maintenance is also a breeze, and crucial for maintaining suction power. The V8+ typically has two filters: a washable pre-motor filter (usually blue) and a post-motor filter. I make it a habit to wash the pre-motor filter every month under cold running water until the water runs clear. The key here is allowing it to air dry completely for at least 24 hours (sometimes longer, depending on humidity) before putting it back into the vacuum. The post-motor filter usually just needs tapping clean or rinsing less frequently, as per the manual.

Maintaining the Dyson V8+ cleaner heads is also important. The Soft Roller Cleaner Head, which I use on hard floors, can have its roller bar easily removed for cleaning tangled hair or debris. I just pull it out, cut away any tangled hair with scissors, and wipe the roller down. For the Direct Drive cleaner head, the bristles can be checked for tangles, and occasionally I’ll wipe down the brush bar. Ensuring these are free of obstructions maintains optimal performance.

Beyond specific parts, I regularly wipe down the exterior of the Dyson V8+ vacuum, including the wand and attachments, with a damp cloth. This keeps it looking new and prevents dust from building up on the outside.
