The most frequent maintenance I perform is simply dusting the unit. Since Fosi Audio Box X2 sits openly on my audio rack, dust can settle on the top and around the exposed vacuum tubes. I use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe down the casing and carefully brush away any dust from the tubes. I’m always very gentle around the tubes themselves, as they are glass and can be fragile if mishandled. Keeping it dust-free helps maintain its beautiful mid-century modern appearance.

Periodically, I also check the connections. Over time, RCA cables can sometimes loosen slightly or collect dust, which can affect sound quality. Every few months, I’ll gently unplug and re-plug the RCA cables at both the input and output jacks of the Fosi Audio Box X2, ensuring they are snug and secure. I also check the ground wire connection to make sure it’s tight, as a loose ground can introduce hum into the audio signal.

While the vacuum tubes themselves are designed for many hours of use, they are consumables and will eventually need replacement (typically after several thousand hours). I listen for any changes in sound quality, such as a loss of clarity or increased noise, which might indicate a tube nearing its end of life. The fact that the tubes are visible makes it easy to admire their glow and also to check for any signs of wear.

Finally, I ensure the Fosi Audio Box X2 is always placed on a stable surface with good airflow. Proper ventilation is important for tube longevity, as they generate heat. Keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources also helps.
