Jetson BOLT PRO – First Ride!

After owning the Costco Jetson Bolt Pro ( https://amzn.to/2X8dLBf – Costco $299)for over a week. Here is my first review video and impressions. My Youtube vlogs may have associated affiliate links to products that I may earn from qualifying purchases.

The Jetson Bolt Pro ( https://amzn.to/2X8dLBf – Costco $299) is great for camping and urban cruising. You just sit and use the electric motor to speed to 15 mph, pedaling is optional. You can set the it on cruise control to 15 mph simply by twisting the throttle all the way down and hitting the button to lock in the speed. If you pedal the motor automatically assists you to the maximum pedal speed of this bike 15 mph. Its compact and fun. Its not slow but its also not crazy fast. I

t is more stable comfortable to handle cracks and pavement. I believe its safer than a scooter. It weight 41 pounds which makes transporting it a bit of a pain since it doesn’t fold down small. Also, it may be too small for larger adults, you may need a longer seat stem – a visit to a local bike store will fix that. This is the perfect urban fun recreational bike.

I prefer a larger folding bike like the Vilano Atom Electric folding bike (https://amzn.to/3gfAe72 $800+) is extremely versatile with a small folded foot print, efficient 250W hub motor and removable battery. I use this for my grocery and longer distant touring. I have put a full size rear rack to fit planniers and baskets. This is my daily bike for most urban runs and commuting. This bike has also been modified from its original 18 MPH electric max speed to 25+ MPH in addition to lower gearing for higher top speed. This is the perfect commuter bicycle.

This saves shins from being bruised. I also makes transporting and storage easy. Makes walking along side a bike convenient.  

No Screw / Strap Water Bottle Cage: https://amzn.to/2COYYod
For bicycles with out bosses or screw mounts for water bottle cages. Strap-on or no-screw water bottle cages can be mounted on the bicycle seat stem or the front stem. I have one on my Vilano Atom as it does not have any bottle cage mounts.

Lightweight but not very secure. Very useful if you are stopping for 5 minutes to get a coffee or soda. I have one for my bicycles and carry a U-Lock bike lock ( https://amzn.to/330szpj )if i need to stay longer than 20 minutes.

Very convenient to store a extra bicycle tube, basic bike tools, keys, cell phone, or first aid during a bike ride. I have one for all my bikes. They even make them with water bottle holders now: https://amzn.to/3fgJYwx

Very useful if something comes loose or if you get a flat tire and need to change a tire tube or patch a tire.

Costco JETSON BOLT PRO vs. Dahon Speed D7 Folding bike vs Vilano Atom Electric Folding bike – COMPARED! – My bicycle accessories list.

After owning the Costco Jetson Bolt Pro for over a week. I am going to compare and review it against my two favorite folding bicycles: Dahon Speed D7 ( https://amzn.to/2D0739x ) and the Vilano Atom electric bicycle ( https://amzn.to/3gfAe72 ) See my overview video below.

I collect many folding and non folding bicycles. The three folding bicycles offer the convenience of easy transport and compact storage options. 

The Jetson Bolt Pro ( https://amzn.to/2X8dLBf  )is great for camping and urban cruising. You just sit and use the electric motor to speed to 15 mph, pedaling is optional. Its compact and fun. The Dahon Speed D7 very lightweight at 25 to 30 pounds. I have traveled with this bike to other countries due to the low weight and very compact nature of this bike. Its geared to pedal as fast as 18-22 mph. I comes equipped with fenders, racks, and can accommodate larger adults. This is the perfect RV and travel bike. 

The Vilano Atom Electric folding bike is extremely versatile with a small fold foot print, strong 250W hub motor and removable battery. Costco has the Jetson BOLT PRO Folding Electric Bike for $299! There are similar mini pedal\folding bikes online: ( https://amzn.to/3fHq66L), as well as compact other styles of mini folding bikes: https://amzn.to/3fIForM . These bikes are good for last mile transport, such as remote parking and commuting. Just keep it in your trunk of your car.

I wanted to buy this unique e-bike due to it’s small size and weight. It was a good Costco Find for $299. It was cheaper than importing one from China. I had bought other bicycles from Costco such as the NorthRock XC00 and some fast e-bikes from Amazon like the Vilano Atom folding e-bike and created reviews and mod for them on my channel.

I initially bought this bike at Costco be was not able to fit it in my car so i had to return it 15 minutes after i bought it. I came back today to find it was sold out, but they one that just appeared on their inventory. My guess was that it was my 15 minute unopened return.

Unboxing and assembling took less than 10 minutes as 90% of the folded e-bike was assembled. Just add the seat and peddles and tighten all the quick releases and bolts and you can ride. Tuning the brakes may be needed as the disc are not true and need adjustment. Wheels are one piece so no work is needed for them. I plan to make a tuning video to show viewers how to make adjustments before the first ride this weekend.

This bike is a 36 volt 6 amp hour battery running a 350 watt hub motor with 14 inch tires. The battery power with a range of about 15 miles and a max speed of 15.5 miles per hour. Charge time is about 4 hours for the 36v 6 AH battery. It has pedal assist mode unlike the previous Jetson Bolt without pedals. It comes with front and rear LED lights and reflectors.
