How to Upgrade Honda “MEEP” Horns without wire splicing on my Honda Clarity

How to Upgrade Honda “MEEP” Horns without wire splicing on my Honda Clarity . After honking several times at distracted drivers with the weak Honda MEEP horns, I decided to upgrade my Honda Clarity with louder deeper horns.

I didnt like the Meep of the factory disk horns so I upgraded to Hella
HELLA 011225831 Black 12V BX Trumpet Horn Kit(Universal Fit) (
https://amzn.to/35Sf9Mq ) with a Honda horn converter plug harness cable so i didnt need to splice the wire. https://amzn.to/3oVB1y4 . I needed to make a terminal connector step down converter ( https://amzn.to/39GLKGp ) to make the harness fit with the Hella.

For those who dont want to deal with splicing wires or buying relays. I went with a universal kit and added a Honda Horn audio adaptor. Some horn kits have Honda specific connectors for fast plug and play easy connecting without splicing wires Hella ( https://amzn.to/39Oa8pk ) and SEINECA Automotive ( https://amzn.to/35VKcaj ) sells car manufacture specific horns.

The issue with kits with specific car manufacture specific plugs is that they are positioned in the wrong side of the horn, and your car may not have enough wiring harness to connect the plug. This happened with my Honda Clarity as the cable did not reach the horn plug. It needed another 3 inches of length. The SEINECA kit ( https://amzn.to/35VKcaj ) was also 125+ dB and was very large horns and did not fit the area of the Clarity.

Universal horn kits are more flexible as you can buy an adaptor cable specific for your Honda or other car manufacture. Typical adapter cables are about 3-4 inches in length. The universal horn kit I choose was the Hella Trumpet Hi / Low Horn 113dB – Universal Kit. They had Honda specific connectors but I got the universal fit.

I also ordered a Honda Civic horn adaptor( https://amzn.to/3bPK5Rl )with 2 prongs to match my Honda Clarity. Some other model Honda have single prong as they ground from the mounting bolt to the metal of the car.

The only issue of my Hella Trumpet horns ( https://amzn.to/39Oa8pk ) and 1/4 inch terminals were larger than my 3rd party adapter. I had to make a F2 to F1 adaptor ( https://amzn.to/35TqYSV ) , by using a 16 AWG 1/4″ Female connector terminal from my terminal assortment kit ( https://amzn.to/3sCCewq ) and some electrical tape. I typically use Plastidip in a can ( https://amzn.to/39ImUpu ) to insulate my electrical terminals but the can dried out.

You will need a a flat head screwdriver for the plastic clips that cover the paneling, 12 MM socket for the mounting bolt, and a 10 mm socket wrench for adjusting the angle of the horn mount.

To remove the Honda Clarity front cover you need to remove the 3 plastic clips, the pull the cover from the side edges straight up out of the fender clips, replace the original horns, disconnect the plugs , and replace with the new plugs and horns, then test it out. There should be no need for any other wiring. After installing and testing, replace all the clips and covers. Remember that the 4 clips have need to be repositioned on to the cover.
Enjoy your new louder horns!

How to Clean: Vacuum Brush Roller

How to Clean: Vacuum Brush Roller for Dyson DC07 ( https://amzn.to/3sAQ7vo ) and other vacuums. We were spring cleaning and found the vacuum brush roller does not pickup any surface debris. I noticed since we are staying indoors more that the brushes were wound up with hair. So it must be maintained. This video shows you how.

We owned our Dyson DC07 ( https://amzn.to/3sAQ7vo ) for over 9 years and we normally do this maintenance every year, however this year we noticed the rollers were full of hair and the pickup and waste volume was low.

To fix this, you have to take off the lower cover of the floor roller and cut out all the hair tangled in the brushes. We used a utility knife to carefully cut the hair off the roller. You also need to dismantle the roller to get to the hair caught under the drive belt. It may take about 10-15 minutes but the difference is night and day. The with the vacuum brushes cleared it exposed the 1 centimeter of brush.

Last long term review of First Alert Smoke alarm two pack a couple of years ago: . This combo Smoke and Carbon Monoxide replaces it.

First Alert “Voice & Location Alerts” alarms https://amzn.to/3pXXvPc are currently sold in a two pack and on sale. The Voice & Location has programable voice massage for the location of the alarm, and is currently $49 for 2 pack. I will install and make a review video later.

When testing this unit, the voice and alert was not super loud, in fact its not ear piercing loud like the last smoke alarm I used. The alarm sounded like my 2008 Honda Civic horn “MEEEP” which i found hilarious. The voice alert is able to choose between several room names such as bedroom, guest room, etc. You have to set it after you turn it on or by clicking the button 5 times to reset the saved location to reprogram the unit.

My last First Alert smoke alarms lasted for about 2 out of the 10 years so I am hoping I get about 3 years from this unit.
