I work from the front to the back of Winky the Cat. I never brush and deshed against the flow of his fur. I only work on areas he is comfortable with and were i normally pet, so it would be his head, back, neck, and chest. Since I dont pet his belly, i will skip that area.

I love how effective it is with helping my cat shed his old under coat fur. I got a lot of dead fur from him and effectively grooming him so he doesnt have to work as hard to clean himself.

FURejector button releases hair with ease and guards the comb.
Ergonomic handle for comfort and non slip. Just rake it along the cat to remove dead fur and old under coat.

After each weekly session, i give him treats for positive reinforcement. I also rub and pet him normally.

CHEVY VOLT VLOG #75 – OIL PAN GASKET LEAK and Replacement

Chevy Volt Oil Pan Leak and Replacement

My 2017 Chevy Volt is now about 95,000 miles now. It has been burning oil for several months. It has been very slow due to the low use of the internal combustion engine. In the past several months, I noticed the oil level dropped about one quart every 3 weeks. It soon grew to losing about one quart every week before I noticed an oil spot on my driveway. I also noticed a burning oil smell.

The oil filter and drain plug were tight and not leaking. The Chevy Volt’s underbody fiber panels ABSORBED several quarts of the oil before the speed of the moving car drifted oil to the exhaust pipes causing the burning oil smell.

Since only about half of the 2017 Chevy Volt mileage is with gas, and the rest has been electric motor, the engine probably only has about 45,000 to 50,000 gas miles on it.

Searching the internet, it seems like some 2016 and 2017 Chevy Volt has an oil pan gasket leak early in its production. So it may be the build and the gasket material. Also from the forums, users noted that the Volt needed several days to fix and may cost anywhere from $800-$1600 out of warranty to repair. The reason for several days to fix was due to the gasket material curing or clients returning back to the dealer when it leaked again after the repair.

After doing my research – I decided to do it myself :

  1. I didn’t want to spend $1000 or more in repair costs, car rental, and lost time. I figured it take me about 3 hours of actual work and 1 day of waiting for the gasket to cure. And about $40 for a new oil pan hardware , $5 for RTV Silicone Permatex Ultra Black gasket maker, $5 oil filter , and $12 for 0w-20 synthetic oil . The panels were soaked in oil and not sure what the dealer may do or charge me to clean, so I got $12 gallon bottle of degreaser solution, and $6 two cans of Carb cleaner . Total cost about $80 in materials and 3 hours or so in labor.
  2. Oil pan replacement generally is pretty simple, and I wanted to make sure the gasket had time to cure and that I was able to clean off all the oil spray on the exhaust pipes and under panels.

Fresh Orange Juice Using a Lemon / Lime Squeezer? OK!

We bought a large 30+ bag of Cara Cara oranges and did not have space in the refrigerator to store them. They were super sweet and saturated. We decided to juice them to save space. We did not have a electric juicer, but we did have a lemon lime squeezer ( https://amzn.to/2RIwoM4 ).

Manual Lemon Lime Squeezer: https://amzn.to/2RIwoM4
Hermetic Seal Glass Pitcher With Lid and Spout: https://amzn.to/3gsPyA6
PYREX Measuring Cups: https://amzn.to/3xb7tRv

Overall it took us about 30 minutes using the Lemon Squeezer ( https://amzn.to/2RIwoM4 ) to squeeze 30+ oranges only to make about 64 ounces (or roughly half a gallon) of very sweet fresh orange juice. Was it worth it! YES, fresh Cara cara oranges have a sweet unique flavor, made better with a half dozen sweet mandarins.

It would have been a lot quicker if we bought a electric juicer ( https://amzn.to/2QKXMIJ ), especially if you plan to do this weekly or monthly. If you want to build hand muscles, using the lemon squeezer was a workout. But if you have hand issues, i would suggest only squeezing limes or a couple of oranges. The lemon squeezer is very versatile in this way that it can be used with squeezing and juicing many citrus fruits, hence we never bought a electric juicer over 10 years of use.

We also love our Pyrex measuring cups ( https://amzn.to/3xb7tRv ) they are great for baking and cooking and have lasted for years. We like using glass pitchers as they are good for milk and juices. The Hermetic Seal Glass Pitcher With Lid and Spout ( https://amzn.to/3gsPyA6 ) has a squire base for great storage utility and looks elegant on the serving table. The lid provides a locking water tight seal.

Overall this was a fun bonding project to do with a friend to process food and juice. Its also very relaxing. The cara cara orange juice was really enjoyable.
